Let's all face it, the Sabres are in the playoffs doing well, it's still cold at night, and our skate blades haven't rusted over yet……it's still hockey season!!

Ok well here the scoop. I got lots going on here at the arena. Newly acquired liquor license and bars being built inside the rinks as we speak. The Adult Summer League starting June 4th (DEADLINE FOR SIGN UP MAY 17 th ). We got the 3 on 3 Youth League starting May 21 st . *** Remember all info is listed on our web page www.jsbia.com . I'm also working on doing many adult and youth clinics (Ex. Power skating, puck control, and edge control) with some college coaches from the Western New York area. This will be moderately priced so everyone can afford it with the raising cost of fuel. Keep in mind its all in the works and I do need feed back. Matter-a-fact I'm going to issue a prize to the 10th person to e-mail me with some input on ideas and suggestions they would like to see for a clinic or skate event. The prize will be a set of new water bottles or coaches bag or CCM 1052 Helmet… it's your choice.

That being said, I'm excited to also see some of the new and beginner skaters taking an interest in the game of ice hockey. One such gentleman (and I use the term lightly) is Perry Mitchell. Perry, an equipment operator and past Fire Chief from Fredonia, is in his second year playing the game. He has been heavily involved in McFall's Bald Eagle clinic at the JSBIA and is one of the founding team members of the C League team “Liberty's Bruins”. Although Perry had a rough start having never skated in any organized league he didn't allow that to hold him back. “I never knew hockey was so consuming both mentally, physically, and emotionally”, Perry Mitchell stated after participating in the Labatt Blue JSBIA Spring Fling Hockey Tournament on April 28 th this year. He has shown dedication we like to see in any athlete, pro or non. His wife of many years Toni Jo Mitchell, owner of Herbs For Life, is an avid supporter of Perry's hockey endeavors. She even offered to buy jerseys for a tournament team going to next years Labatt Blue USAdult Pond Hockey Championship in Eagle River, Wisconsin. With more hard work and effort Perry will improve and be able to experience hockey with different eyes…more seasoned eyes. Much like all of us, we had to start playing somewhere and at sometime. Keep encouraging your friends and children to enjoy hockey. Its never too soon or too late to start lacin' up the skates and strappin' the pads.

Thanks again for reading and be sure to contact me with info and feedback…I need it from everyone. Drop me a line or e-mail me. sfadale@netsync.net
