- Community
support
Community support (attendance at events, program
revenues, sales at our “Skate Shop” and Snack Bar, ice
rental fees, volunteers, gifts and donations) is
required for JCCDC (our corporate parent, not-for-profit
organization) to maintain our “public charity” status
by the IRS. There is actually a legal limit preventing
us from using funds from Gebbie and other large donors
to meet our “public support test.”
- Foundation
support
While
the Gebbie Foundation and other local foundations have
pledged grants to cover our debt service (building mortgage)
for the next 25 years, the ice arena is expected to
break even on its operating budget
- Current
situation
With
the cost of utilities continuing to skyrocket, like
many businesses, we face the possibility of annual deficits.
And the fact we have chosen to set our ice rates below
market rate to make use of the ice arena as affordable
as practical make the ability to keep these prices down
increasingly difficult at best.
- You
Can Help
So
even small donations are appreciated and help us a lot.
Cash donations may be dropped off at the main reception
desk at the ice arena using envelopes provided there.
Checks can be made payable to “JCCDC” and dropped off
or mailed to Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena at 319
West Third Street, Jamestown, NY 14701. All donations
are tax deductible as provided by law.
- Many
of our “non-ice users” have already started to make
donations. Some of the seniors who attend classes make
contributions as well as many of our “Cool Walk” walkers.
We are in fact seeking donations to fill about a $10,000
gap in the funding we needed to purchase and install
the track.
- Friends
of the Ice Arena
A
formal “Friends of the Ice Arena” campaign will be launched
as we start our next “ice season” in the fall.
